The Rebbe's story

From the first Jew in Bloomingburg to a home for the Nadvorna kehillah

The first Jew in Bloomingburg

When the Rebbe came to Bloomingburg, there was no Jewish community here at all. He was the first Jew to make his home in the town — living here on his own, long before anyone else followed.

It was a quiet, lonely beginning. There was no minyan to join, no Beis Medrash to walk into, and no kehillah around him. But the Rebbe stayed, and he built.

Opening the Beis Medrash

As more Jewish families slowly moved to Bloomingburg, the Rebbe opened the shul. From that very first day, it was meant to be more than a place to daven — it was a home for every Yid who walked through the door, whether he lived down the street or was just passing through on Route 17.

Chesed from the very start

From the start, the Rebbe made sure of two things. There would always be food for anyone who is hungry — no one leaves hungry. And the mikvah would always be free, open to everyone, so that no one is ever kept from taharah.

These are not things that were added later, once the shul was established. They were there from the beginning, and they are still the heart of the Beis Medrash today.

Through the hard years

The beginning was a real struggle. Building a shul, keeping it running, and providing food and a free mikvah — with only a few people around — took great effort and mesiras nefesh.

Today, with the help of Hashem, the Rebbe is here together with the whole Nadvorna kehillah in Bloomingburg — a living community of Torah, tefillah and chesed that grew out of those first lonely days.

A gaon in Torah

The Rebbe is a gaon in learning, with deep knowledge of Chassidus and of Kabbalah. His learning is the foundation of the Beis Medrash and of everything the kehillah does.

A gorel for your question

People come to the Rebbe with questions about their lives — should they go ahead with a deal, or not? Following the ways brought in the seforim, the Rebbe makes a gorel for them — by throwing wheat, or in other ways — to help them find the answer.

Soon you will be able to ask for a gorel right here on the website.
